My Story

My name is James Slaymaker. I’m a third-year undergraduate student at Concordia University Texas. I’ve also attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor as well as The University of Texas at Austin.

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with minors in Psychology and Legal Studies. After finishing my undergraduate degree, I plan to complete a dual track program for both an M.B.A. as well as a J.D. degree.

My passion lies with political theory and analyzing the construct of government. I exorcise the subsequent desire to educate the public about politics here, on my blog.

This site came to fruition as a project for a class I took during the spring of 2021 — a class called Digital Journalism & New Age Media. Typically I don’t find myself particularly fascinated with the woes of journalism, let alone digital journalism. However, my chosen vocation in the law seems to benefit from the general tricks and trades of the business.

The practice of Digital Journalism and it’s practical application in today’s media — including social — will be even more integral to political campaigns than we’ve already seen. My goal with this project was simple: get ahead of the curve and develop skills now that will be necessary in 10 years, should I decide to become involved politically.

I am not usually active on social media, I’m more likely to be reading the news if I have my phone in my hand. I have been trying to engage more, though. If you’d like to see what I’m reading or thinking or if you have any questions —
